There’s a lot of negativity around the new version of the board software and I was wondering if there’s actually some things that people like about it?

If there’s something that you like then please share it with the rest of us. Besides helping to heal my bruised ego it will help fellow community members learn about new features they might have not yet discovered.

I like it in some ways, though it feels like I've gone from Win 2000 to vista directly. maybe some getting used to is all SS needs

I like the rich text editor, I like where my profile option is kept, I like how the quoting gets done, I like how the PM system is working. Thats as far as I have got so far...

The new PM system is pretty awesome. Quick reply is great. The + - of a post would be useful (someday). The status updates makes it feel a bit more personal.

If the "View active / new posts" link is at the top, I would really like the new look and feel. :)

I like that clicking the topic takes you to the last unread post & i don't have to click a separate link for that...

New fast reply is cool...

& since i hid the "frame" or what ever on the right hand site with status updates etc it's starting to look like a forum again!

Just need to get use to searching / clicking for things that use to be right on the front page!

wik1d that link is not working very lekker at the moment.

that link doesn't give the same info as the "Today's Active Content" link at the bottom of the page (my post on the issue) ... See for yourself!

Anyway, I like the pretty colours surrounding the quotes and there was something cool I noticed last night but I can't remember now what it was! :P

Hehe, don't get me wrong. If I left-click and the lightbox pops open - it's awesome.

On a slow connection it's not quite as awesome though, and if I use the middle mouse button, CTRL + Left Mouse button, or 'open in new tab' option I want the image itself, not the fancy-smancy stuff.

---

One thing that does look awesome? The top menu-bar. Looks MUCH more polished now than I remember it from v2 days, and I actually like this colour scheme. The spacing when viewing a list of topics is a bit extreme though, and even with all the space, it lost functionality.

The overall look is nicer, but I dont like the wider space between lines on the main board and on the new content page. I like seeing more than just 10 items before I have to scroll. But thats probably personal.

I do NOT NOT NOT like the way images are handled. Not at all. I like clicking on all the images in a thread and then reading the rest of it while waiting for all the images to load.

I have not used the new version extensively, and most of the rest of the stuff will probably just take a while getting used to.

I want to try the quick reply...

EDIT: That doesn't feel that fast to me :|

Anyway, I feel sort of on the fence at the moment. The forum feels good. I don't like the "View new content", and I hate the theme. I think that once those are out of my way, I'll love it :)

I don't see the big problem with how pictures are handled. Its a bit different but as aCe said you can still right-click and open in a new window....

The Fast reply is nice, I like being able to rate posts (think it will become usefull at some stage). PM system is nice too.
