Hi Guys & Gals

The following kitties have been at the A.A.C.L. Cape Town branch since 2004 and early 2005. If you know of anybody who could give these bundles of love a good home, please have them contact the A.A.C.L.

Also for those of you who have been keeping an eye on Abandoned, we uploaded a whole bunch of photo's of the animals at the A.A.C.L. currently.

Please head on over there and spread the word. These pets are all wonderfully friendly and desperately seeking a good home and some decent frisbee throwing.

Salem's Story

She was brought in by her owner to the A.A.C.L. Cape Town with a terrible eye wound. It was found that the eye was so badly damaged that they couldn't save it and they had to remove it. Her owner just left her there while she was still in the hospital, so she was literally abandoned in her time of need. Salem may on occasion bump into things, but her disability has in no way affected her wonderful loving nature. She gets on extremely well with other cats and just like all "normal" kitties, just loves to play.

If any of you know of someone who can give Salem a loving home, please contact Michelle at the A.A.C.L. in Cape Town.

The Animal Welfare in Port Elizabeth have asked me to put out a plea for the below fellow. As you can see he is pretty old and there is only one route his life will take if somebody doesn't take him home soon.

All he needs is a nice quiet place to live out the rest of his life.

Update
This old boy's owner came and reclaimed him today. :) Apparently he was out of town and his neighbours had not looked after him as he requested.

Phoenix became good friends with Bullet when she arrived at the kennels - Bullet has eventually, after many many months, found a good home last week (wonderful!). But Phoenix is still waiting and is very lonely now that her friend is gone. Can anyone help? Angela: 083 288 5125

Phoenix is a female large breed NDS who is 3 - 4 years old.
She was abused at her old home, but once she learns to trust you she is the most affectionate and loyal dog anyone could ask for. She is not scared of people anymore as she used to be.. she is only asking for a lot of love!

Phoenix is currently at H.A.W.S. which is in the North West province, but apparently not too far away from Pretoria or Johannesburg.

Edit: Phoenix has been homed! :)

I have received a photo of a very special boy in Woodmead who is longing to be with a family again.

He has a wonderful nature and as a Labrador Cross German Shepherd you get the best of both breeds. Loyal and loving :) Joey is now 2 years old and has been without a family for over 8 months now. He is being looked after currently by a wonderful woman named Estelle.

She takes in abandoned puppies and nurses them to health then gives them to good homes. She incurs all of the costs herself and sends them for vaccinations and spay/castration (if they are old enough). If you can find it in your heart to give Joey a home please give Estelle a call on 076 155 4439.

A request emailed from Catpals located in Tshwane.

Dear cat lover,

I'm attaching pictures of two of the Farm Inn kittens that have been rescued in the course of our removal project. Because they both suffered from snuffles infections, they were brought to the Glen clinic for treatment. While they were there, they became very much tamer (the one is completely tame, and the other is not far behind!), although sadly it became clear that the infection had robbed them each of an eye.

We would love them to go to proper homes (or, better yet, one home, if possible) instead of being taken to the sanctuary with the adults. One of them is female (the grey one, I think) and the other male. They are both around 12 weeks old. Would YOU perhaps be willing to adopt one or both of them? Won't you please open your mind to the possibility for a moment? If your answer is definitely "No", however, won't you please pass this on to someone else that you know, who is also a cat lover, who may be interested?

If you would like to know more, call me at 083 327 0365.

Wendy and I are happy to report that 47 cats have now been rescued from the Farm Inn. All the adults have been sterilised and taken to the "halfway house" at Mnandi. We would also like to thank everyone who has donated so generously. We don't have nearly enough of anything yet, though: we still need blankets, cat caves, kennels, scratching posts, etc. etc. If you have anything you're no longer using, please call Wendy at 082 923 2551.

Many thanks and purrs

Sitting in the shelter at the Hartbeespoort Dam is a beautiful Staffi called Cassidy. She came in as a stray and no one has come forward looking for her. She is great with kids and other dogs, has a wonderful nature and is very affectionate. She is struggling in the kennel at the moment as she needs love and attention. Due to the numbers of dogs in the shelter at the moment, they cannot manage to give her the love she really needs.

The preferable home would be one where a family member is home during the day, as she struggles when left alone.

A house check will be done and only the best home will be considered.

We need to find her a really great home soon. If anyone could assist in giving her a loving place to live, please call Angela at the Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society - 083 288-5125

Emma is a Rottweiler bitch of 5 years. She has the most beautiful temperament and loves people, but hates all other animals! She has been at the Animal Welfare in Stellenbosch for months now and we are desperate to find her a home.

She really is a wonderful dog and is always up for a romp. She greets us with slobbers every time we go to visit and it breaks my heart that such a friendly and energetic dog is sitting in a kennel.

Please guys, if anybody can home Emma give Julia a call on 021-886 4901.

Emma needs a small eye operation which is extremely simple and easy to do, but they can't do it if she isn't going to be rehomed. :(

Edit: Emma is having her eye op done in spite of nobody wanting her just yet. Please go visit her, you'll see she is the most wonderful dog ever.

Edit 2:Emma has been homed!

This poor soul was knocked down and left to die. Some good person picked him up and rushed him to get medical attention. He is only about a year or two old.

We think he is an Alsation Cross Border Collie. He has a wobble in his step now, but with love and time to rehabilitate will be a wonderful dog.

Please call Estelle 076 155 4439 or Dee 011-883 8182

I may not be the best looking little creature around (that’s why no one wants me), but boy do I have a super duper personality!

Life in a cement cage is rather difficult and my heart does get very sore but I’ve been told that if I keep positive and stick it out for hopefully not too much longer, some good person will come to my rescue. I promise to love, be faithful and loyal to my new owner. I dream of a warm bed, a small garden, food (chicken would also be nice!) and some attention each day.

I don’t think I’m asking too much…

If you can give me a home, please call Angela on 083 288-5125 or Helen 072 560-9606.

Nushka is a female Steenbrakkie who is still younger than one year old. Very lovable and likes nothing better than to sit on someone's lap. She is currently at HAWS and has been there for quite some time.

Edit: Nushka has found a home.

Sarah has been described as a large Jack Russell size and she has a very sweet nature. As she is young, she has lots of spunk and she’s great with other dogs. She has been in the shelter for a very long time and would so love to have a garden to run in and a little affection from her owner each day. She has a lovely personality and is very loving! A perfect family dog!!

Received an email from someone in Jhb. Will quote as they put it better than I will be able to.

Quote

I picked up a dog on the weekend in the Bruma area. Unfortunately we haven't been able to locate her owner, after making calls to literally every vet in Jhb! This dog is now with the Sandton SPCA and as everyone knows, they will put her down in the next few days if we can't come up with a plan! They have told me she has about 3-4 days, which is really not a long time, even in doggie days!

She's young, I'd say under a year, and really has the sweetest nature for such a strong dog. She befriended me immediately and even sat still in the back seat of my car, lying on the towel I put down the whole way home. I'm sure she'd be an amazingly loyal house dog...if she got the chance.

Please won't someone considering adopting her - I would if I didn't already have 4 dogs!

Bee is a wonderful, sweet natured girl of about 2-3years of age. She is very energetic and loves to run. She would be the ideal family dog for someone who has a big property where she can run around freely or who will take her on regular walks. She is good with children and other dogs but does not like cats. She is highly intelligent and is a great companion to anyone. Once bee has your confidence she will protect you diligently and will never leave your side. A well-rounded dog that with alot of love and care will make the ideal dog to have in your home.

Bee is at the Animal Welfare in Stellenbosch and they told me yesterday that her time is running out. Please guys any assistance in finding Bee a home will be much appreciated.

You can contact them on 021-8864901 or Julia on 082 725 4213.

Below is an appeal for Bulla the Bulldog currently at Animal Welfare in Stellenbosch.

Quote

I have attached another pic of a dear old soul who is so desperate for a loving home. He is so depressed at the shelter and just sits in his cage at the back all huddled up with no interest in life anymore as if he knows he has been discarded. When they let him out for his walk he goes and sits in the little barn we have on the grounds inside and does not come out until they call him to come inside again.

Its so sad as he has real character when you sit with him and give him cuddles. The only problem he does have is at the moment is excema. Its being treated but still looks rather bad. This is from neglicence from previous owners. He is on treatment and should clear up nicely within a few weeks. But he really needs to go to a loving and very specific home - preferably someone who knows the breed very well. He is a four year old pedigreed bulldog name is Bulla. He has real character and you can see he just needs to be loved and cared for and he will be a really loving pet to someone who has time for him. ONLY really interested parties need to apply with knowledge on bull dogs.

Edit: Bulla has beed adopted

Natalie is a Cross Breed White/Tan Female. Natalie came in with a badly injured leg, which was amputated. She is a very sweet girl. Her owners didn't want a three-legged dog, so they are desperately trying to find a home for her.

She really has the most beautiful face and such a kind nature. Three legs are just as good as four!

Please contact AACL in Cape Town if you can help home Natalie.

Natalie has been homed.
