Received the below email tonight.

Quote

We've had a heartbreaking case at HAWS. Today, Angela was called out to rescue a little Jack Russell puppy from a squatter camp where they had beaten her so badly that one of her eyes had popped out. She is only 2 months old and right now she is terrified and very sore.

The vet says that he could save her other eye but unfortunately he would have to remove the eye that had popped out and stitch it closed. The operation would cost R600 and right now HAWS does not have the funds to outlay for this little pup. We so desperately want to fix her and fill her life with lots and lots of love, so please - we are in desperate needs of donations.

She hasn't lived a very long time and we feel that she deserves a second chance in life. We know that this little girl will pull through if we can give her the opportunity.

Lastly, once she is better and running around like only puppies should - we need to find a best home in JHB for her! So if you have some space in your life for her, please let Angela know. She is going to need a lot of love and attention (and yes, she will only have one eye but that's no problem!) to trust humans again - we're working on it already! As soon as we can get a photo of her we'll send it out - she was just too traumatised today...

So if we can all donate a tiny bit, I'm sure we can manage to raise enough money to pay for her operation.

Please deposit any donations into the HAWS bank account:
HAWS
Standard Bank
Brits 052546
033183074

Please use the reference: Bokfontein Puppy so that we can allocate the money to her operation.
For any queries, please call Angela on 083 288 5125.

I know its Xmas time and you are all probably spending your bonus on presents, but if you could perhaps donate R10 or whatever you can afford.

What happens to the donated money if not enough is raised and pup goes to the ol' doghouse in the sky?

Well I would imagine they would still have to pay the Vet whether they puppy makes it or not so either way I'm sure the funds will be put to good use.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am waiting to hear from them regarding the update and will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

I meant what if they don't raise the R600 and the puppy has to be put down.

Oh I see. At this rate that really shouldn't happen. I will put in whatever is needed if there is a shortfall.

I have received the following emails.

Quote

Thank you so much! We have had such a fabulous response to the email. The support has been amazing and HAWS is so grateful. Angela phoned me just now to say the op went very well and the vet is taking her home with her tonight to look after her and then she is being fostered by Joanne from Husky Rescue. So everyone has really chipped in and made her short lived life very comfortable and full of love in the future!

We need to have her microchipped, vaccinated and eventually spayed when she is old enough. We also want to be able to give her the right food to get healthy and strong! So your donation is unbelievably appreciated and thank you for helping us to save her little life!

I will email photos to you throughout her recovery to keep you updated.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for always jumping in when we need help!

Quote

To Everyone who has contributed to the recovery of this little puppy

What can we say? We have raised enough money to ensure that she had the operation this morning and to also ensure that any follow up procedures are fully paid for!

Angela visited her this afternoon and said that the op went very well! Her other eye is good and she will be able to see out of it. She is still very timid and we have had so many people offer her loving foster and permanent homes! All we can say is that she is one spoilt little girl and boy, does she deserve it. We will be sending out photos with an update of her recovery to you during the week so please can we ask you to send it on to those friends, colleagues and family who donated money and were concerned with her well being.

She is going home with the vet who did the op tonight so she will be well cared for and we certainly won't be sending her into a kennel when she can go home! She is going home with Joanne from Husky Rescue who has years of experience. When she is stronger, we will start to investigate permanent homes (of which we have had many super offers!). Please remember that if you don't get to take her home to your family, there are still many other doggies and puppies needing good homes and you are the people we are looking for. The ones with a genuine love for animals.

Once again, thank you thank you thank you!! We can't say it enough! It is so heartwarming to see the support and know that there are people so many people out there who care.

Have a blessed Christmas.

Lots of loves
HAWS and our beautiful little puppy!

Guys you have shown your Xmas spirit and I thank you as well. I will be posting photo's of the little puppy once I receive them. :D

I have finally received a photo of the sweet little puppy and copy in the email that came along with it.

Quote

Finally a photo of our precious little Jack Russell puppy which everyone was so concerned about! We are pleased to tell you that she has a wonderful permanent home in Sandton with a volunteer from FORA - she couldn't have asked for a more pampered and spoilt life with her new family! We are so grateful for all of the support and donations that were given. It has been so heartwarming to know that so many people out there care. The operation went very well and although she will only have one eye, at least she will now live a healthy and happy life! She is getting stronger each day. We will send you an update once we have been to visit her and let you all know how she is doing.

Once again, thank you to everyone who so generously jumped in and helped us to save her life... Our little pup says "Thank you guys!" and she sends a big hug and kiss to all of you!

Please could we ask you to send this email to everyone you sent it to or anyone you know who helped us to fund her operation.

Another fabulous spin-off from the email of this little puppy was a generous donation of a digital camera from Canon. Now HAWS can readily update their website and keep all of us in touch with what is going on!

Have a wonderful New Year and here's hoping that this support carries through to 2007! If its any indication, we're going to have a fabulous year filled with lots of stories of hope and love!

Lots of loves!
HAWS and our precious little pup!
