Hi xanex... Welcome to systemshock
I'm not familair with the 8600GT / 8600GTS, but from what I read there they are the same cards with different bioses. Looks perfectly workable what those guys are saying, as all your doing is increasing voltage & clocks with the new bios. It may be worth it to try clock you card to that speed before trying the bios flash? If your not able to crack it then it must obviously be the bump to 1.32v with the modified bios thats pulling it off, easy enough to flash but you will also need to consider the increased heat load from extra voltage / frequncy. Bios flashing graphics cards is not that different to flashing your motherbaord bios, just make sure you know how to recover without a working gpu, key rule keep a dump of the original bios on a a disk ready to flash back, you will need to do this blind unless you have a 2nd gpu.
Oj0 did a write up, in it you will find most of what you need to know about flashing bioses... >here<

well.. I just did it and it works. booted fine, no issues whatsoever. ran a full aquamark3 run with zero issues..

8600GT settings...

8600GTS settings..
will monitor temps, got a few heatsinks I can try put on the ram of the card if things get out of hand

right so after an hour of crysis, nothing not even a hiccup. system temps dont seem all that different to be honest.
I see you can set it to be a 8600GTs but then it complains that the PCI ID or something is changing and I thought Id rather not fiddle too much.

And don't forget the soft Quadro mods!
Can someone please tell me the AM3 scores? I'm on my phone, so I can't see.
Thanks for that Marc! I must really get round to finishing it sometime...
