E3 2009 Game Trailers and Screenshots

E-mail Print

I'm busy sorting through a large quantity of E3 content from the various publishers. I'll be uploading E3 related screenshots and news to the site during the course of the day.

I'm also working on a new video section for the site so stay tuned for that as well.

More to follow soon.

Microsoft demo "Project Natal" at E3 2009

Microsoft have stolen the show at the first day of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2009. Without a doubt their biggest announcement was "Project Natal". The era of controller free gaming has arrived and boy are we excited.

"You are the controller," teased Microsoft at their E3 conference today, firing the shot heard round the blogosphere: a no-controls-whatsoever motion-sensing device.

"Can we make you the controller?" they asked, before answering with an Obama-like "Yes we can." Forget Steve Austin, it's The Six Million Dollar Design Grail: Gentlemen, we can rebuild you...we have the technology...better, stronger, faster...and did we mention without an external controller?

Microsoft launches new Bing search engine

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, has unveiled Bing, a new online search tool that he hopes will rival Google.

He launched the public test version of bing.com at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego, and the company is claiming that the service will offer a significant improvement in the number of users who actually find answers to their search queries.

Its own research suggests that up to 60 per cent of questions are not answered by the current generation of search engines, and that 50 per cent of all search are in fact repeats of previous questions.

Special Assignment: Zapiro Documentary on Political Satire Online

This news story is very different to the ones we usually post on SystemShock but I felt it deserved its place on the front page instead of just being discussed on our forums. SystemShock broke this story 40 minutes after the video was uploaded to local video sharing site Zoopy.

The SABC have, for the second time, pulled the Special Assignment documentary on political satire featuring two of South Africa's most recognised political satirists, Jonathan Shapiro, better known by his pen name Zapiro, and Pieter-Dirk Uys.

Watch the Special Assignment documentary on political satire video online after the jump.

Genius Speed Wheel 3 MT Review

GENIUS‘S SPEED WHEEL 3 MT is a USB racing wheel aimed at PC users who’ve grown tired of using a keyboard to race, and are looking for something to help immerse them in their game of choice. Needless to say, buying a peripheral dedicated to one specific genre of gaming is normally reserved for the enthusiast only - one who wants an experience as close to real life as possible.

Microsoft SideWinder X8 Wireless Mouse Review

IT’S A FACT: WIRELESS mice aren’t good gaming mice. Poor connections can result in lag time between when you move the mouse or click the buttons and when the action happens on the screen. Even minute bits of lag can cause immense frustration. Another major drawback of wireless mice is battery life. Nothing can be more devastating than having your mouse ‘die‘ in the middle of an intense firefight and having to rummage through your desk looking for a fresh set of batteries - or even worse: having to give up and wait an hour while the mouse recharges in its cradle.
